Our Founder: Matthew Ullrich
Heartland LMS was founded by Matthew Ullrich, a retired Master Sergeant from the United States Marine Corps with 22 years of active-duty service. Matthew’s journey began on his family’s farm, where days were filled with hard work, hunting, fishing, and hiking – passions that instilled in him a deep respect for the land and the outdoors. After enlisting in the Marines, he honed his skills in engineering, logistics, and project management through roles that demanded excellence under pressure.
Matthew’s military career took him around the world, including four combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, where he served in senior positions within aviation, logistics, and engineer units. Later, in Okinawa, Japan, he excelled as an Engineer Equipment Commodity Manager, optimizing operations and leading humanitarian aid disaster relief efforts across Southeast Asia. As deployment team lead based in Manila, Philippines, he recruited and trained maintenance teams, managing international logistics, customs, and contracts single-handedly – earning him the prestigious title of Engineer Equipment Staff Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year for Marine Corps Forces Pacific and a spot as one of three finalists across the entire Marine Corps.
Returning stateside in 2020, Matthew became a formal schools instructor at the Marine Corps Detachment on Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He taught basic equipment repair, advanced horizontal construction operations, and project management to senior staff, eventually rising to manage all advanced engineer equipment classes and instructors. Decorated for his service, Matthew retired in 2025, ready to channel his expertise into a civilian venture that aligned with his values.
Today, Matthew resides in the Mid-Missouri Ozarks with his wife and two children. He’s an active member of his local church and men’s ministry, and volunteers with the community’s disaster response team. Guided by his faith, Matthew founded Heartland LMS to blend his engineering prowess, outdoor passions, and commitment to service. “The Lord has blessed my family abundantly,” Matthew shares. “It’s my calling to praise Him by serving our community and helping landowners realize their dreams for their property.”
